Amber Liu

I'd like to briefly explain Amber's lessons to those who actually want to know what to expect. The Lessons are 99% in Chinese (She will explain in English when needed, like new words or any questions you may have). The "TPRS" method is very effective. She uses her environment to discuss various matters and teach vocabulary (example: above, below, left, right). Think of the western game "charades", lessons are like that, only she's giving you the vocabulary as you go. As a beginner you will not know every word she says, but you will understand the message she's trying to convey. She's very repetitive without it being boring. For example she could say "I'm holding my phone in my left hand" in Chinese, the more you and her talk about that phone the more you'll pick up on each word she's actually saying (don't worry, she stops and types out vocabulary in Chinese with the English definition so you can review it). The most engaged and stress free you'll feel while learning Chinese for sure.

After taking a break due to going on vacation abroad. I decided to start learning Chinese again. I was already a beginner when I stopped so I was very rusty. BUT Amber’s teaching style works amazing for me. I was able to pick up on words quickly and respond in Chinese, even if it wasn’t perfect. The way she uses facial expression, items around her and acts out what she’s saying makes it very easy to understand what she’s talking about even if I don’t know all the vocabulary yet. I look forward to our next session.

Amber is such a nice and supportive teacher! I had not practiced my Mandarin in a long while so it was very rusty (I'm also still a beginner), but she always holds the lessons in 100% Mandarin which I really appreciate. If you are hesitating to learn Chinese online, definitely go with Amber, you won't regret it!

Soooo good at helping me to understand. I've only been studying a month but we are already having 100% Mandarin lessons and communicating ideas.

This was a super fun class, we discussed the coffee making progress and Amber gave me loads of useful vocabulary, it was exactly what I wanted :) Amazing as always!
