My name is Jayashree Jagannatha. I live in Mysore, India. I am a teacher/ freelance translator.
Ich als Lehrkraft
I have been teaching Kannada since the last 15 years. I have taught Kannada to students from all over the world who come to learn Yoga in Mysore. I always try to understand the cultural background of my students so that communication becomes smooth and productive.
Meine Stunden und mein Unterrichtsstil
My lessons include reading, writing, speaking, listening, vocabulary and grammar. I give special emphasis to translation. I structure my lessons according to the requirements of the individual student. I continuously get inputs to adapt to the learning pace and style of my students. my classes are highly interactive and lots of fun.
I have been wanting to learn Kannada to communicate with my partner, our friends, and his family. Jayashree was very clear on process, expectations, and timeline. She also listened to why I wanted to learn Kannada and how we can tailor my lessons to those goals. I'm very happy with our trial lesson and am looking forward to our next one.

Jayashree is a fantastic Kannada teacher! Even though I've only had two classes so far, I've already learned so much. She is very professional, patient, and makes me feel comfortable as I’m just beginning my journey with the language. I’m looking forward to more classes and improving my Kannada skills with her guidance!

Great class with Jayashree, I had not practiced for some time and felt I had forgotten everything and I am going to Karnataka in 2 days, she has really been patient with me and helped me giving me nice phrases I can use. Will need to bring my notes with me on the trip!
Thanks again Jaya!

Resuming lessons with ಜಯಶ್ರೀ-ಅವರೇ after about 2 months break (I'm in grad school and very busy 😮💨). We picked up right where we left off, and I am glad to be doing Kannada again!! ಜಯಶ್ರೀ-ಅವರೇ is very patient and encouraging, as usual. We are now on pg. 55 of ಘಾಚರ್ ಘೋಚರ್, which is quite a stimulating novel. We explored the author's use of dialect and discussed the themes of the book, particularly the existential ennui associated with inheriting wealth.

Enjoyed my lunch break chatting to Jayashree ! I have shared details on my upcoming Karnataka trip, what places I want to see this time, what places I want to go back to after 2 years, and why. She introduced slightly the conditional tense in Kannada, but I still struggle to apply it in my conversation so I asked her for a full class about this tense in future. Classes with Jayashree always bring a smile to my face and I come back to work in a better mood! Thank you so much Jaya!
