Hello!
I'm Yasmine, some people call me Jessmeen or Jessy! I'm extremely passionate about storytelling and languages! Coming from Egyptian roots and having spent most of my childhood between Cyprus and Switzerland, and now living in London, the concept of cultures has been deeply engrained within my ideologies and practice from a young age.
When I am not teaching or learning languages, I work as a documentary filmmaker, photojournalist, travel writer, and yoga teacher, am greatly passionate about all things anthropology, culture, photography, film, and human rights. I love meeting new people from all corners of the world and am a big food and yoga lover and a huuuuge travel fanatic!Ich als Lehrkraft
I am a big child at heart and my approach to language learning and teaching is very similar... full of curiosity, colours, games, and a lot of passion, enthusiasm and patience!
I am fluent in English, Arabic, Greek and Portuguese, and intermediate in Spanish and Italian, and beginners in French and German, which always helps bridge the gap when it comes to language learning and teaching!
I taught children for two years in Cyprus (ages 3-10) and currently still teach Spanish speaking children English online through a school based in Peru. My main objective is always to make lessons fun and to create a friendly, comfortable space where mistakes are welcome.Meine Stunden und mein Unterrichtsstil
As aforementioned I am a lover of stories, and find that learning languages through telling stories is one of my favourite approaches. This can be through images, videos, texts etc.
Mostly, I am a big believer in conversational learning and implementing the things we learn in textbooks in the real everyday world.
My main teaching style is always tailored to you and your interests. I always ask students why they are learning a particular language and in which context they hope to use it (for travel, work etc.) Everyone's pace, level and style is unique and different!Mein Unterrichtsmaterial

Wow! The conversation flew over myths, books, films and arts without pit stops! Only the italki delays on áudio cut sometimes, but Jessy is an amazing conversation partner, corrected some of my English mistakes ( 🙏 thank you!!) and among Greek mythology quizz questions, comments on La Llorona and Brazilian “mineira” food, has always a kind comment to bring to all the subjects. I really enjoyed my lesson, I was a bit nervous being very new to Greek but Jessy made it really enjoyable and I actually felt like I learned a lot in such a short space of time. I'll definitely be booking a lot more lessons :D
