Hi there! My name is Amy, and I’m a native Chinese speaker, born and raised in China. I went to college in the U.S., where I had the opportunity to experience new cultures and perspectives. Currently, I’m based in New York. My journey in teaching Chinese began in college, when I volunteered at a Chinese cultural study center. I’m passionate about sharing cultures and watching my students grow – it’s an incredibly rewarding experience! That’s why I’m here, excited to help you learn Chinese and explore its rich culture. 😃

I'm a patient and effective communicator. I started teaching Chinese in college and also volunteered with a Chinese culture study group during that time. I believe sharing cultures is a meaningful way for people to learn from each other. I truly enjoy watching my friends grow and improve from where they began—that’s what motivates me to be here. :)

What You’ll Learn in My Lessons: ✅ Basic Chinese grammar, sentence structure, Pinyin, and characters ✅ Practical conversation skills for any situation ✅ Listening, speaking, reading, and writing development ✅ HSK levels 1–6 test preparation ✅ AP Chinese support ✅ YCT tutoring (ages 5–18) Sample Lesson Agenda: 1️⃣ Warm-up conversation 2️⃣ Review of the previous lesson 3️⃣ Introduction of key learning points 4️⃣ Interactive exercises and mini-games 5️⃣ Lesson wrap-up & homework assignment 6️⃣ Feedback and Q&A My teaching style is all about making learning fun and effective. I love using creative games to help students review vocabulary and stay fully engaged throughout the lesson!

Amy is an awesome teacher. I found her very relatable. I believe she has a good understanding of western culture which she will be able to translate not only language but cultural differences that come with Mandarin within a modern setting. Alot of difficulties with learning a language is knowing the culture, she will bring comfort and understanding this aspect.
