My son really enjoyed his lesson. I have a 13yr old in 8th grade who is taking mandarin as his "language of choice" in his high performance middle school. Most of the kids in the school are supplemented and very achievement oriented. My guy is a nice, normal, reasonably athletic kid who is a bit intimidated by his peers (he just started at a new school in 7th grade, and we all know middle school is a tough social emotional time for most kids). I digress. In any case, my child finds the language, including listening comprehension and speaking, quite difficult and he is feeling stupid. We wanted to supplement him so that he gets more than the 3 hours a week of in school class time and help him with his confidence. Marvin was wonderful during our first introductory/trial lesson-- from what I understand, he corrected my son's accent and spoke to him in in basic mandarin. Currently quite satisfied. We may explore this online virtual supplement 1-2hrs/week going forward.
