I just completed a 5-lesson package with Yuka-sensei, and I highly recommend her! I'm a beginner in Japanese and have a hard time holding even a basic conversation, but Yuka-sensei's patient, enthusiastic, and caring personality helps me do my best. Specifically, Yuka-sensei has a great understanding of the needs of a beginner. When she speaks in Japanese, she articulates very clearly, and if there is a word she thinks I might not know, she says the English right after she says the Japanese. That way, I learn the Japanese word naturally. She also uses hand gestures and other non-verbal cues to help me understand. Additionally, I like that when I'm speaking Japanese, Yuka-sensei will recast what I said but in a more clear, natural way. Like, "Yes! That's what I was trying to say!" Yuka-sensei is an amazing teacher!

Yuka sensei has the magic making people comfortable to speak Japanese while with confidence. It’s always a great delight having this 30-min of practice every time to learn how the native speaker think and speak.

It was my first lesson with Yuka-sensei and I can't wait for our next! Even if you feel like you're too shy or awkward to talk, Yuka-sensei is full of energy and keeps the conversation flowing smoothly. There was never a dull moment and I felt no pressure to answer quickly or with 100% accuracy. If you hesitate speaking Japanese because of shyness, I think Yuka-sensei would be a really great match :) ありがとうございます、ゆか先生！

I had a very fun first lesson with Yuka-Sensei. She is very friendly and set expectations on what I can look forward to in future lessons! I will be requesting her to tutor again soon.

Yuka Sensei has a great personality, she is friendly and energetic and it makes the class environment welcoming and fun. While she is flexible with the class and goes with the student’s flow, she is diligent about revisiting everything you go over in class, so there’s not a moment wasted. She is good with English, so if you ever get completely stuck with Japanese, she can easily reach across the language barrier to help you out. I’ve had two lessons with her now and I will be coming back to keep learning with her.
