"Our World", National Geographic

A new course from National Geographic, focusing on Listening and Speaking skills.

There are five levels in this course. 
The course is suitable for elementary, middle and high school students, Grades 4 to 12. 
It is also suitable for adults, ability range A1 - C1.

Students will study listening exercises in a range of different topics. 
There is a lot of practice for speaking skills. Each unit includes a presentation exercise.
The material is presented in the "Reflect" textbook with both audio and video content.

The vocabulary in the Reflect course is very practical. For example, students learn to apply the vocabulary words to think of more questions to ask others, to find things in common and to listen carefully for the different values and feelings of others. This new course is fun and interesting and represents the latest thinking on improving communication skills for everyday life.

This course is an excellent choice on its own, or as an addition to classes in Reading Explorer.

A course suitable for people who live or work in an English-speaking community. Do you enjoy experiencing international culture? This course is ideal for fast beginners who want to learn and experience more than "What's your name? Where are you from?". 

There is a lot of practice for speaking skills and conversation skills. There are many listening exercises to help the student understand others and communicate more confidently. (This course is not aimed at learning English for travelling and sightseeing, but it can help students with some basic language skills for beginning a new a course of study overseas. It can also help students in their own country or community who often have English-speaking customers at work.)

"World Link", National Geographic

Regular classes in the "Great Writing" series from National Geographic, Levels 1 to 5.

English for middle and high school students, Grades 5 to 12, ability range A2 - B2. This course features an academic study of writing skill, and includes assignments in an extensive range of different writing styles. Students will practice writing about an extensive range of everyday topics related to culture, science, social studies, travel and adventure. 

Students will study writing skill with a live teacher, 1-1. 

This is a writing course, so please be aware that the homework exercises will be more significant in this course. The student will probably need to have much more time available outside of class time, in order to complete the writing assignments. So, please check that this will be okay for your current situation.

Because this is an intensive writing course, students will need a computer keyboard and some experience of using Zoom or Tencent Meeting to write their answers. It may also be useful to have a document scanner, so that hand-written answers can be sent for marking. 

There is an online workbook for after-class practice. Using this workbook can replace the need for making and scanning hand-written answers! It is important to purchase the online workbook from National Geographic Learning once you are taking regular classes, in order to make great progress on this course.
