Please help me revise this article! Now I stand here to give a speech. We are not knowing each other well, so when the first see me, what’s your impression about me? Her voice is loud, so she is outgoing? But can you trust your first impression? For me, the answer is no. There are two reasons. First, as a foreign student in Japan, I deeply appreciate the cultural differences. When I use the first impression to judge others in other country, I’m using the criteria built in a different culture, so it’s no wonder that the criteria don’t work. Cultural differences can skew and invalidate first impressions. Second, human beings are not static. You and other people’s emotions are changing depend on the, maybe, the weather, the traffic or today’s work and so on. We can’t be 100% sure that what they showed is their usual state. And of course, we can’t make sure we are not affected by things going on in our environment. First impressions aren’t something bad but we shouldn’t judge others all by first impressions.
