Building relationships with others is an important skill we all need to learn. Throughout our lives, we meet new people every day at work, at school or at other places. Some of us are good at building relationships with anyone, but others are not and they may even be afraid of social contact. In my experience, a good relationship is based on balancing the benefits of both taking from, and giving to, others. If people just want to take from others, they may not necessarily know how to respect others; in other words, they are selfish. On the other hand, I also know some people who only consider other's feelings. They try their best to make others happy, but they ignore their own feelings. They are like a slave to the feelings of others. My best advice is that you don't need to build relationships with the people who look down on you and you don't have to play up to others.
