Is there any difference between attention and awareness ? For instance pay attention to your mind, be aware of your mind ? Pay attention to your steps, be aware of your steps ?

In these contexts, they're the same. But in other contexts, they can be opposites, in a way. Because paying attention generally means focusing, using a form of tunnel vision either literally or figuratively. It means trying extra hard to see something specific, in a specific place. Meanwhile, being aware, means seeing wholesomely, without bias, to see what's real. It generally involves holistic sensing - employing standard vision, peripheral vision, your third eye, and all your other senses. Attending (paying attention) is being present to observe something, but not necessarily knowing anything about it. Awareness is seeing and knowing - it's much closer to understanding.
