Hello people,
I have a question about IELTS reading test.
Can I write all the answers in a Capital letters?
For instance, BIRD instead of Bird.
Can somebody answer this question?
Hi. I just wrote my ielts last week. And I wrote the reading and listening section in all caps. I asked the examiner about the same, she said clarity of writing is what they actually look for.

I'll caveat this by saying that I don't know about the specifics of the IELTS exam and I don't know if this is a trustworthy source.

Says that you can write in capitals for all answers, BUT it is not recommended that you do so on the written exam.
As a native English speaker the only reasons that I would write in capitals are:
- To emphasise a specific word.
- If I'm specifically instructed to on a form.
- When writing an address on an envelope.
In short I don't know why you would want to unless they tell you to. Just make your writing clear.

I think you should write your answers in capitals to avoid confusion. Because, few small letters are similar and can confuse the examiner which could affect in your score. I usually write capital letters in reading and listening to avoid confusion. đđ

I would definitely go with âBirdâ instead of âBIRDâ because in English typing with the caps lock on means that youâre shouting.
