This topic reminds me of the most important festival for Chinese people all around the world. You might have guessed what I’m referring to—it’s definitely the Chinese New Year! Due to my busy schedule, I’ve even forgotten the exact date of the 2025 Chinese New Year. In fact, we have less than 20 days to prepare food and other things for the festival.
Because this festival usually takes place in spring, we also call it the Spring Festival. It marks the end of the old year and the beginning of the new year in Chinese culture. Cleaning and organizing all the rooms is the first thing we must do. When sunshine streams through the clean windows, it makes us feel fresh and energetic.
We also buy new clothes for each family member, and the living room is decorated with red ornaments. Red is a powerful color in Chinese culture. We believe it scares away bad things and symbolizes a great start for everything. The world seems filled with red during this time, from clothes to Spring Couplets.
Firecrackers and fireworks are also an essential part of the celebration. The loud popping sounds are thought to drive away bad luck. This festival marks the beginning of a new year, so all the bad things are left behind. We hope that everything goes well and that everyone has good luck in the coming year.
Happy Chinese New Year!
