A major is what your degree in college is, for example, chemistry or English language. Your career is made up of the jobs you have.
example: My major is English in school.
It will prepare me for my career as a translator or teacher.
Hope that helped!
Hello Jose,
A Major generally describes your focused studies at university. For example, my major was accounting and I received a Bachelors Degree in it. Other available majors can range from nursing to economics. Career is used to describe what type of work you've chosen to focus on, usually after graduation. So with an accounting degree an obvious choice would be to join an accounting firm and make a career of accounting (Certified Public Accountant - CPA in the U.S.). However, it is also possible to pursue a career in something other than accounting, but maybe related to business. Someone might decide they want to work as a financial advisor or in banking and both of those types of work could be described as a Career. It is also possible to have a Career completely unrelated to your Major.
Hope this helps.
Michael
