Hasia
Do you prefer Afghani farsi (Dari) or persian?

I have a friend whom is learning Farsi. I came out and realized that Persian is very different from the "farsi" i speak, how embarrassing!! Persian from Iran sounds so formal, and they talk with their nose. I don't! It just sounds funny and formal, my arabic is better than my "Persian".I can read some Dari, but a little bit of Persian.

So...I decided to learn some persian, and i tested my daddy. I asked him "padar, chotor hasti?" (father, how are you?)

He said "khoob astum" (i am good) what about you hasia? I said "sepazguzarum" (it's like alhamdulilah)(also, afghans dont say this much)

He said "goomsho irani naistee" (get lost, you aren't iranian!) HAHAHA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's crazy! DO YOU PREFER PERSIAN FROM IRAN OR DARI FROM AFGHANISTAN?

I think It sounds funny to you probably because you're not used to it. Before having Afghan students and friends, Dari would sound kind of funny to me too. I've heard from many Afghans that they think Persian sounds weird and of course many Iranians find Dari weird. (Unfortunately I've seen some people from both nations who talk about this difference in an insulting way.)

I think it's because of the limits we have set in our minds, when we expand our borders we will understand the differences better.

I myself like Persian better, but I occasionally listen to Afghan songs and I enjoy it.

I am learning Iranian Farsi, but I am interested to learn about other dialects and the differences between them. It's useful to be able to recognise and understand as many dialects as possible.

P.S.

I have a friend whom is learning Farsi

I have a friend who is learning Farsi.

Farsi like other languages has variants .for example there are Australian English ,British and American English .It depends on you to choose your Farsi version .There are expressions in Iran which Afghans dont use and vise versa.Culture and poets are different too .People in Tajikestan have their own dialect .In short it is up to you .which one do you prefer ? To speak like an Afghan or Iranian or Tajik .I can help you my friend ;)

I can only speak for me , all variants and local dialects have their own merit and charm. I listen to songs and get exposed to the way this language is spoken both in iran , tajikistan and afghanistan.

persian pronunciation for this sentences "padar, chotor hasti?" is:  Pedar, hale shoma chetor hast?

I agree with your father, that your pronunciation is not Persian. I can help you with it if you like.
