What is the meaning of phrase "a quick meal"

What is the meaning of phrase "a quick meal"?

Is it fast food? A quick eating?

It isn't necessarily something that's quick to cook.

You could grab a quick meal in a restaurant when you're on your way to an appointment, the station or the theatre, for example. In this case, the meal is 'quick' from your perspective : it won't take you long to pop into a nearby restaurant, order today's 'special', wolf it down, pay and leave.  It might have taken the cook all day to prepare this dish, but it's still 'quick' as far as you're concerned.

A meal that is quick to prepare and quick to eat.

A sandwich is a quick meal.  (2 minutes to prepare, a few minutes to eat)

A salad is a quick meal.  (5 minutes to prepare, a few minutes to eat)

Spaghetti is a quick meal (15 minutes to prepare, a few minutes to eat)

@Sean and @Jennifer,

Thanks.

So it is something simple, fast in cooking, right?

It means nothing fancy. So not a three course meal or a candle lit event. And after you've finished you'll probably leave quite soon rather than chatting for an hour or two. Just a quick meal. Not necessarily fast food though and definitely not eating fast.
