Does anyone speak Hiligaynon?

I live in the US but my Wife and her family are from Iloilo. I am at the VERY beginning of learning Hiligaynon.

My wife can answer any of my questions but it is hard to practice with her as I am at the “greeting” stage of learning so any conversation with her are very boring. I do need to ask my wife her name or where Do you live. Because I know this information it makes practice not enjoyable.

Hi, are you still trying to learn Hiligaynon? I've just started learning, my Mum is from Iloilo. I found two tutors here on italki - Kurt Russel and Ann Villanueva, they are both found under the Tagalog teacher list. I also highly recommend the Speakin' Ilonggo app, available on Google Play.

For listening practice, I've started to make a YouTube playlist of Ilonggo videos: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLI3WMLxfjEz2BydcJeAYdEoX3_2GoEzCd

And this is the best online dictionary I've found. https://hiligaynon.pinoydictionary.com/

To pick up new vocabulary, I have several different methods: writing down words I don't understand during conversations and YouTube videos, trying to translate my family's Facebook posts, and following Aksyon Radio and Bombo Radyo Iloilo on Facebook and trying to translate their posts.

For general language learning, I recommend any of the courses from Fluent in 3 Months. I've been following the curriculum from the Fluent in 3 Months Challenge since December (I signed up during the Black Friday sale) and I've made more progress in the last five weeks than I have in the previous decade.

Good luck!
