What language should replace english as the de facto global language? Why? English is probably the most common second language, but the pronunciation is very difficult to learn. Is there a language that has both simple grammar and easy pronunciation that could replace English? or English the best choice? obviously it would be difficult to move to a new language now, but if you could choose, what language would that be? maybe we could improve how english is written? what are your thoughts

Well, I've never met anyone who said that English pronunciation is "very difficult to learn". I mean, there are tons of English accents in the world anyway so it's fine if someone speaks it with an accent, in my opinion. Of course, if someone wants to be mistaken for a native speaker, it will be difficult to perfect their pronunciation to such a degree, but it would be so with any language because sounding like a native speaker is difficult no matter what language you are learning.

To anyone who still thinks that English pronunciation is difficult, try learning Chinese with its tones :)

I don't know all languages that exist...and I don't know any easier than English so I can't really say much. I don't think pronunciation is that hard in English. It could be worse, I think :). English is so easy to understand that even though you make mistakes in pronunciation - you can be understood. I don't think this is the case with every language. I know English words sometimes are written in one way and pronounced in another, but I don't think it poses such a big problem...But i don't know...maybe it poses? For some it may, for some others not :). It happens in every language. So I think we should stick with English, at least for now, cause I see no chance for English to stop being Lingua Franca :)

I don't think the pronunciation in English is hard if you compare it to other languages. My first language is Arbic and I believe that the pronunciation in Arabic is a way harder than in English.

If I had to change our global language from English to another, I'd change it to Spanish. It sounds beautiful, and it's easy to understand. If you speak a language with Latin roots (I realize not everyone does), then you can probably guess many Spanish words at a glance.

I would take the Cyrillic alphabet though, because looks beautiful to me, especially in cursive.
