τούτο ήταν ακριβώς αυτό που έψαχνα! the translations are flawless, and you can even see declension and conjugation charts for some words! they have a picture dictionary and IPA transcriptions on top of that, είναι τέλειο!

How about the site www.glosbe.com? It gives you real examples with the word in context and it supports translation in Spanish among others.

Let me know. In the meantime, I will see if there are other alternatives that could fit your purpose.

Bambiniotis' dictionary is very complete indeed! It took a while to load it on my phone though. The problem is it doesn't have example phrases, cause it was meant to be paperback :(, but it would definitely be my third option provided i didn't find a definition in the other two.

μάλλον αυτό που χρειάζομαι είναι να βρω a website όπου θα μπορούσα να αναζητήσω παραδείγματα με τη λέξη την ίδια.

προσπάθησα φράφωντας "χρήση του [λέξη] σε μια φράση, [λέξη] παραδείγματα" στο search engine, αλλά δεν βρήκα τίποτα χρήσιμο...πού θα τα/τις κοιτούσες αν ήθελες να δείς κάμια λέξη in context?

and don't worry about difficulty, i can carry out reading a monolingual dictionary with google translate, it helps me to get the general concept. Of course i use bilingual dicts, μα μερικές φορές υπάρχουν τόσες λέξεις για μια έννοια που πρέπει να χρησιμοποιήσω ένα μονογλωττικό λεξικό για να διαπιστώσω αν όλα τούτα τα συνώνυμα πραγματικά έχουν διαφορές, επειδή μπορεί να υπάρχουν όπως τρεις ισοσημικές λέξεις για κάθε σημασία, λόγω των μονογλοττικών λεξικών ξέρω πως "αέρας" είναι επίσης"αγέρας (λόγια έκδοση)" και "αήρ (καθαρεύουσα έκδοση".

έμαθα που μάλιστα υπάρχουν ιδιορρυθμίες μεταξύ "σώμα: anatomical body, body in general" "κορμί: physical human body" "δέμας: alive body, flesh" και μεταξύ "παλεύω: to fight" "μάχομαι: to battle" "πολεμάω: enfrentar, oponerse" "καταπολεμάω: to combat smth with the intention of getting rid of it completely"

Στα ελληνικά είναι σπουδαίο για 'μένα να ηξέρω αν δύο συνώνυμα είναι είτε διαφπρετικές εκδόσεις του ίδιου είτε λέξεις στον εαυτό τους. Αυτό είναι κάτι πως ένα διγλοττικό λεξικό δε μπορεί να εξηγήσει.

If I need to look up a Greek word in the dictionary, I would use the one by Professor Babiniotis an old version of which you can download in this link <a href="http://5dim-tavrou.att.sch.gr/lexiko_bambinioti.pdf" target="_blank">http://5dim-tavrou.att.sch.gr/lexiko_bambinioti.pdf</a>; (I have the hard copy version in my bookcase). Professor Babiniotis is professor of linguistics at the University of Athens and perhaps the most renowned and respected linguistics Professor in Greece.

I am not a Greek language expert beyond being a native speaker but perhaps the dictionary of the Academy of Athens is the equivalent to the Diccionario de la real academia española.

To my opinion, monolingual dictionaries are quite elaborate for non-advanced speakers and shouldn't form part of the learning material at early stages.
