Labas! Hello! Greeting and Meeting. The first thing, which you want to do when you meet Lithuanian, is to say - Hello! And to ask something like how is he doing? Is he allright? But how to say it in Lithuanian? Let's see!

Hello! - Labas!

Labas in Lithuania is a little bit impolite for elders. You can say Labas to your friends, or for those, who are younger than you. But if you are meeting those, who are elder than you (I am not talking about family members or friends), you should say - Laba diena!

Now, what does Laba diena! means?
Laba diena! - Good day!
       - you can also say:
Labas rytas! - Good morning!
          or
Labas vakaras! in the evening which means Good evening!

Secondly, what about asking the person some questions?

When you speak/talk/write in English, it's polite and nice to ask the person you are talking with : How are you?
ex.: Hello! How are you?

How you can do it in Lithuanian?
It is: Kaip tu?

Kaip tu? can mean some things that you can have in your mind, like how are you
: goingdoing/ are.

This is all for this time, let's learn some more in the next discussion!

---------------------
Good luck ~! I hope it helps.

Nice post, really helpful. Thanks a lot.
Something catches my attention here when you said, "Laba diena".
"Diena" ends with "a", is day (diena) considered male ?
