Concerning family tree?

I am really confused when it comes to first cousins. If you have a cousin who are parents of children, how is that child related to you? Would the children really be your niece/nephew while you are uncle or aunt? But you are not the type of uncle/aunt who is related to your siblings. Being a aunt and uncle at a very young age is strange depending on your cousin's children's age.

You can be an aunte to your sibling's children or cousin's children.

The children of your first cousin are your "first cousins once removed" and when your first cousin will have a grandchildren their grandchildren is your "first cousins second removed"  they are not you neice nor nephew. However, here in Philippines we just call them nephew and neice and they call us aunte or uncle. I have a nephew and neice ( my first cousin children ) who are 5 years older than me but they don't call/ treat me as aunte they call me cousin. -_- Actually I call their mother as Aunte though she is my first cousin because her age is the same with my mother.

I can't imagine....My family is too large to track because my lolo had 2 wife even my great grandfather. Both Ilokano and Bisaya are within my family. My half relatives who are bisaya, I don't even know them or how they are related to me. Sometimes I get random friend requests on facebook.

In filipino culture we don't really give attention in family tree. We are more on which generation do you belong. If you have a cousin but she/he was born in the generation of your mother/father you will likely call them aunte/uncle. Anyone who is in the first generation are grandparents, second generations (older than you/ ur parents generation ) they will be ur aunte and uncle even if some of them are ur cousins, 3rd generation (which you belong ) all of them are ur cousins even if some of them are ur aunte or nephew/neice, 4th generations (younger than you ) they are nephew/neice even some of them are ur cousin, 5th generation will be all your grandsons whether from your children or nephew/neice children but the right term for it is "first cousin second removed"

Technically it is wrong specially if we will base it in a family tree but thats how it works in Phil. It is less confusing than to trace family tree since Filipino has big family..

It has to be a Pilipino thing...most of my real cousins are older than me, since they have children they convinced me that they're my niece and nephew. 2 of my so-called nephews are slightly younger than me which is wierd. When I was a child I have mistaken my cousin's children as "my cousin also" which is confusing. I don't know much bout my family in Marikina, I must have a lot of "nieces and nephews".
