In Russian, according to Wikipedia, the longest Russian word is Тысячевосьмисотвосьмидесятидевятимикрометровый (46 words). The word means 1989-micrometer. However, according to some of my Russian friends, the longest Russian word is достопримечательности (21 words), the word means attractions.
The 45-letter word Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis is the longest word in English, I don't "know" what it means : ))). Accoring to Oxford dictionary, the word means an obscure term ostensibly referring to a lung disease caused by silica dust @@!!!
In my language, Vietnamese, the longest word is just only 7-letter word: Nghiêng, the word means oblique or slope.
So how about this in your language?
Riddle: Why is "smiles" the longest word in English? [See the answer below.]
There's a mile between the first s and the second s.
I am not sure about longest word in my language but I can share here another long word of English:
Floccinaucinihilipilification
It means the action or habit of estimating something as worthless.
It's possible to make huge compound words in Finnish.
At least at some point the Guinness book of records said the longest non-compound word is epäjärjestelmällistyttämättömyydelläänsäkäänköhän, but I don't believe that anyone ever managed to use it in a sentence. It's just extreme agglutination.
Järjestelmällinen means organized, orderly.
Epäjärjestelmällinen means disorganized.
Epäjärjestelmällistyttää means to cause something to become disorganized.
Epäjärjestelmällistyttämättömyys is the act of not causing something to become disorganized.
Epäjärjestelmällistyttämättömyydelläänsä adds a genetive (which means that the act of not causing something to become disorganized belongs to somebody in the third person) and a locative case but you'd need a context to properly translate it into English.
-kö makes it a questioning word.
-hän is a particle that doesn't really mean much, just gives emphasis.
"Epäjärjestelmällistyttämättömyydelläänsäköhän hän sai sen aikaan?" means, sorta, "Wonder if he managed to do it with his act of not causing something to be disorganized?"
There is no longest word in Chinese. xD
The longest word non-technical is "anticonstitucionalissimamente" - It means a anti-constitutional act.
But there is another word that is longer than that above (it's a technical word):
Pneumoultramicroscopicossilicovulcanoconiose - according to PT dictionary.
