There are three words pop up when I search th Internet─"team leader","supervisor" and "chief".Are they all the same? Are they all available both in companies and factories?
Aside from the actual definition, it is commonly used in these ways.
Team leader- Someone who is in charge of a small group. This title is used in schools, work, and sometimes military.
Supervisor- Mostly used in the work place. The job of this person is to oversee all activities of the staff below them, which is the manager and all other employees. A supervisor can have someone supervising him/her as well!
Chief- This is for the top of the ranks. It is also used in military.
It sounds like you are looking for vocabulary that is used in the work place. You are on the right track! Instead of 'Team Leader' I would use manager or supervisor. Chief is always a good word but you can also use director or president.
Hope this helps!
Chief is always higher than supervisor. But remember, it is not used so often, only for very important positions.
Yes, I agree with other comments, except in UK chief is not used in the majority of locations, certainly not in business, maybe used in the Navy, but I am not aware used anywhere else, unless as a joke! Team Leader and Supervisor are very common as are manager, deputy manager, assistant manager and senior manager.
Thank you all very much.(bow) ^^
