8th October 2005 (Sad Mood) Who can forget the devastation of 8 October 2005 Northern Pakistan & Kashmir earthquake which claimed the lives of thosands of people and left more as homeless and injured. The biggest victim of the earthquake were kids and educational institutions as the earthquake came at morning time when many of the kids were in schools and got hit by the devastation. The earthquake was measured at 7.6 on the Richter scale. Th was the strongest and deadliest during the last 100 years in the area. More than seventy thousand people were killed, most houses electric power lines and transformers fell away. Whole Muzafarabad city was destroyed by this. Sadly the response from our government and international ones except for initial days cannot be considered as great. This event left a huge impact on our lives especially youth at time. It did unite the nation, which started one of the remarkable rehablitiation process in the country. I would love to write someday about the efforts made by students during this tragedy. May Allah bless heaven to one who died, give patience to affectiec and provide strength to people who are still struggling with their lives to get back to normal.

Ameen. Infrastructure is good now, we have a disaster management authority too. But still only 60% people displaced people able to move back to their places. Hope things will be good in future.
