The "Asador"
For the standard average Argentinian, an "Asado" is not just about cooking a slice of meat on a grill but it is an entire ritual where each step of the cooking process has have a personal meaning.
It all starts with the "Asador",who is the person who will be in charge of the entire process. This guy will feel that he has have all the power and the people around him will encourage their this attitude. (is it always a guy that does the cooking?)
This guy will clean the grill, start the fire, take care of the condiments that go on the meat, take care of maintain the fire, take care of be responsible for the entire the cooking process, savor sample the cooked meat some pieces, serve everyone and finally, will eat.
In each family, in general usually the father is the "Asador", but in greater meetings large groups only the masters accept the responsibility to cook for others. No one wants to be made to look like a fool make the foolish in public.
This guy will feel that he is the best "Asador" in the world even if is not. If you find a someone that wants to do have all of this work on a Sunday then you will do everything you can to make this guy feel like he is the best "Asador" of the world.
The guy from in the picture must be the guru of the "asados" because this is not the norm.
standard ;)
For some strange reason it is the same here as the men are almost always in charge of the barbeque. Your photo is like looking at heaven for all of us carnivores. I have never seen steaks as big and delicious as I saw in Argentina. It must be difficult to be a vegetarian in your country! Well done Cristian!
