If someone discovered a formula that would enable us to live forever? If someone discovered a formula that would enable us to live forever, would that be a blessing or a curse? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer." For a long time, humans have had the idea to live eternally, and people from different times and different places expressed this idea by different ways. In this context what would our reaction be like if we had discovered a formula that would enable us to live forever? In ancient china many emperors were trying to make "Elixirs of life", and they used different materials such as: precious stones (Jade) and metals (Gold as a drink),...but all tries didn't work, there is a list for all chinese emperors who died because of the Elixirs of life. the same tries were in ancient India, the ancient Arab world, Europe,... a lot of books presented different formulas which described how to extend the human lives. And there are many legends that ancient nations and communities created to express this idea. In this topic, we can have two kinds of explanation, in my opinion having this possibility has more disadvantages than advantages, because the important question is how we would live?! And not how many time (years) we would live?! In our days, it's not surprised to find the existence of the idea of living forever, in the international Cinema's industry, there are tens of movies that treat this subject. But what if we had the opportunity to take advantage of a formula of living forever, it's supernatural phenomena since we are ephemeral creatures. The problem that a lot of heroes in movies is struggling to live forever, they live alone, because all their lovers and families passe away, for example the hero in "the interview with the vampire", he started to feel lonely and he looked for the happiness or for the reason which push him to keep on living, another example is the movie of "The Green Mile", in this film Tom Hanks plays Paul's character who outlived and lost all his friends and relatives,... he considered this like a punishment from God, so in this case that was curse for him. The same example was in another movie "the strange case of Benjamin Button" which we can understand well how is difficult to live without the natural objective in our own lives. This idea seems against human nature, so in my opinion living forever is a curse of course, humans have the preference to live in happiness even with short own lives, finally I tried to find one advantage in this situation but I didn't!

For a long time, humans have imagined to live eternally, and people from different times and different places expressed this idea in different ways. In this context how would we react if we discovered a formula for immortality?*

In ancient China many emperors tried to make "Elixirs of life", using different materials such as: precious stones (Jade) and metals (Gold as a drink),...but all attempts didn't work, there is a list for all Chinese emperors who died because they drank these concoctions. The same tries were made in ancient India, the ancient Arab world, Europe,... A lot of books presented different formulas which described how to extend human life. And there are many legends that ancient nations and communities created to express this idea.

In this topic, we can have two kinds of opinion. In my opinion, immortality has more cons than pros, because the important question is how would we live?! And not how long?! These days, it's usual to find the theme of eternal life in international cinema, where there are tens of movies that treat this subject. But what if we could really live forever, and enjoy this supernatural phenomena and no more be ephemeral creatures? The problem that many movie heroes have is a struggle to live alone, because all their lovers and families have died, for example the hero in "the interview with the vampire". He started to feel lonely and he looked for happiness or for a reason to push him to keep on living. Another example is the movie "The Green Mile". In this film Tom Hanks plays Paul's character who has outlived and lost all his friends and relatives,... He considers this as a punishment from God, so in this case it is a curse for him. The same example was in another movie "the strange case of Benjamin Button" where we can understand well how difficult it is to live without a natural objective in our own lives.

This idea seems against human nature, so in my opinion, living forever is a curse.

Of course humans can prefer to live in happiness even with their own short lives. Finally, I tried to find one advantage in this situation but I couldn't!

*your version is also perfectly good.

very well written! Please be careful ending and starting sentences. One sentence should express one thought.

If someone discovered a formula that would enable us to live forever, then we would have more time to be with our friends and family. This formula would be a blessing, not a curse. We would have more time to be with our friends and family, people would have more time to learn and accomplish with less time stress, and if this formula existed, we wouldn’t outlive our friends and family. The formula that allows people to live forever is definitely a blessing. A formula that allows you, your friends, and your family to live forever will elongate your time with them. Many people say that time should not be wasted because it is very important. This is very true, and being able to live forever will give you much more time than if you lived a regular life. This elongated life will also allow you to do more things than you could’ve done in a normal lifespan. Many people die before they are able to do what they most wanted to do. With this formula, people will never have to worry about not having enough time. More time will be a benefit to our education and achievements. A formula that enables us live forever allows us to have more time to make achievements and also let us take our time in learning, so less pressure is put on students that are struggling. With more time on people’s hands, one person’s elongated life could save us many decades of waiting for another genius to come along. People’s lives will improve quickly. Ordinary people will be able to watch things get easier and easier, and the rest of the people will be contributing to this.

Whereas some people think that living forever is a curse because you will outlive your friends and family, you will not, since they would have also taken this formula, and will also live forever. You could not have been the only person to have taken the formula to live forever, since people have died trying to find a formula that allows them to live forever. The formula will be hard to find, and in the meantime, we will probably find another planet and figure out how to get there. In this case, people will not run out of space to keep growing. If someone discovered a formula that allows us to live forever, it would be a blessing. If we had this formula, people would have more time to be with our friends and family, more time to learn and accomplish with less time stress, and if this formula existed, we wouldn’t outlive our friends and family. Life would be much better with everyone able to live forever.

If there was this formula, then no one will out live anyone, we would all stay alive. This would elongate your time with the people you love. (Of course people would still die of accidents and sickness) Edit - After I finish writing my counterargument, I will post it...or as much as will fit.
