Is it better for children to choose jobs that are similar to their parents’ jobs? ***This is a TOEFL writing practice. Please give me some suggestions! Thanks very much!*** *"Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is better for children to choose jobs that are similar to their parents’ jobs than to choose jobs that are very different from their parents’ job."* I agree with that children select the similar jobs with their parents for several reasons below. First of all, I believe children will imitate the behavior from their parents or anyone taking care of them as long as they can see and hear. For example, your kids might be able to recognize some medical items or organs during their childhood if you or your spouse were a doctor. You probably have some related materials at home, such as pictures, models, and books. Children must learn something from those decoration because they will see them everyday during their childhood. Secondly, children could probably consult lots of questions from parents when they are going to choose their major or future career. Parents would have a lot of information on their professional areas which can guide them a better way from such areas. For instance, you would know the detailed environment and the trend in medical area when your kids are going to become grown up. Finally, children must have some difficulties about the career during their growing process. Parents will be the best teacher for them when this happens because you probably faced the same difficulties when you were young. At the time, you can give them some advices and thus guide them a better way to deal with. Therefore, I agree with that children select the similar jobs with their parents.

I agree with the statement that children select similar jobs to the ones their parents have for several reasons which i discuss below. First of all, I believe children will imitate the behavior of their parents or anyone taking care of them as long as they can see and hear. For example, your kids might be able to recognize some medical items or organs during their childhood if you or your spouse were a doctor. You probably have some related materials at home, such as pictures, models, and books. Children are likely to learn something from those because they will see them everyday during their childhood.

Secondly, children would probably consult their parents lots when they are looking to choose their major or future career. Parents would have a lot of information on their respective careers and can show their children what their career is like. For instance, as the child of a doctor you would know a lot about the medical scene, and could easily see exactly what it is like.

Finally, children must have some difficulties choosing a career during their teen years. Their parents will be the best teacher for them when this happens because they probably faced the same difficulties when they were young. At the time, you can give them some advices and thus guide them a better way to deal with.

Therefore, I agree that children select similar jobs to their parents.
