我發現一件有趣的事I found one interesting thing
我發現很多人在學習中文的時候,都忍不住要一邊翻譯一邊學。
I found many people can't let themselves stop translating when they study Chinese.
而我記得在我學英文的時候,我的老師非常鼓勵我使用全英文的詞典。
While I remember my teacher encouraged me a lot on using full English dictionaries when I was studying English.
中文和英文是兩種完全不同類型的語言。
Hence I would propose, Chinese & English are totally from different families.
即使專業的翻譯,想完全把中文翻譯成英文都很難。
It's even difficult to a professional translator to totally translate Chinese into English.
所以我認為外國人在學習中文的時候,應該儘量避免使用漢英詞典。
Thus I think foreigners should better avoid to use Chinese-English Dictionary when they study Chinese.
否則這就會把對中文的理解變成單純的記憶。
Otherwise, it would turn the comprehending into memorizing,
這會讓你的學習變得枯燥和乏味。
then makes your studying dull & boring.
而且,舉一個“例子”:
Btw, for example:
在google詞典下,
in google dictionary
"good"這個詞,可以被翻譯成 24種中文形容詞,3種中文名詞。
"good" can be translated into 20 adjectives, 3 nouns in Chinese;
“好” 這個字,可以被翻譯成5種英文詞彙,有形容詞,也有副詞。
character “好” can be translated into 5 types of Eng words, includes adj & adv.
而最有趣的是,關於"好"的中文的解釋和英文的解釋還不完全一樣:
The most funny thing is, Chinese definitions of "好" are not exactly the same definition in English.
Chinese (Simplified) > English.
好 [hao] Pinyin
1. good; fine
2. friendly; fine
3. completed; done
4. easy
5. easily
Chinese (Simplified) dictionary
好
1. 美丽
2. 优良;良好
3. 友爱;和睦
請問你是願意理解“好”這個字的意思?還是願意記住所有的這些解釋呢?
How would you like to do: to comprehend the character “好”, or to remember all the definitions?
:)
