90 day's training: Day 6
Could you please check my sentences? Thanks in advance. đ°
1) I was reading an English book from the Oxford Reading Tree, Stage 11, yesterday.
2) But it was soooo strenuous for me because I had to constantly look up the meaning of unfamiliar words. It happened two or three times per sentence.
3) Therefore I decided to read 6 books from Stage 10+ again. It might be helpful to get used to reading English.
4) I used to listen to a German radio station that features German pop music and news. But, I switched to another one last week that offers English pop music along with German news.
5) I am looking for new creative ways to improve my English. If you could offer me some recommendations, I'll be thankful.
The modals "could", "would", and "might" are helpful when you are asking favors:
"Could you make some recommendation(s)?"
"Might you make some recommendation(s)?
"Would you please ...?"
"Can", "will", and "may" are grammatically just as good, but do not sound as courteous.
my recommendation: read poetry. There are some great poets who use fairly simple language. Start with "Stopping by woods on a snowy evening" by Robert Frost. Listen to recordings of the poem by skilled performers.
