How to say "宅男" “宅女”in English? 宅男宅女用英语怎么说? Actually, “宅男”“宅女”are new words, they apprear recently. 宅男/女 refer to those men or women who often stay indoors and have few social contacts or activities and spend a lot of on computer playing computer games, chatting online and so on. How do you say it in English?

I don't believe there's a direct translation. In english or at least in Australia we don't highlight staying home or 宅ing per se, but instead use other descriptions. Eg, 宅男 typically stay home and play video games, in the west they're refered to mostly as "nerds" (which includes myself!) this can be both positive and negative depending on how you use it, but it is mostly a negative term. For girls, you could say "She stays home all the time and does ______". Since there is no direct translation, you can be descriptive instead. Hope this helps.

宅男 = male addicted to computers, computer games, adult cartoons etc (2000s Taiwan slang, derived from Japanese otaku 御宅男 house male) / fan of computer games / by extension, nerd or geek As you can see, it derives from the Japanese.
