It's a global language, that is the main reason why so many people want to learn it. Otherwise there isn't anything special about it. :)

It's widespread popularity. Everyone wants to learn it and with just that one language, you can go so many places. Also the literature in English is great like Shakespeare, Dickens etc. though I haven't read too much of the classics hehe. Most importantly English is universal. Most people you meet will know a little bit of English or want to try learn English so English connects you with people and you meet heaps of friends. Without knowing how to speak English, I wouldn't survive where I am :)

English is the international and the most useful language nowdays. No one can deny it. It is to hard to travel abroad without speaking English. When I started travelling abroad I realised that I was an international illitarate. I imediatelly started learning English. I felt that a new window openned in front of me, opening my eyes to a new and wonderful reality. Speaking English also gave me the opportunity to make great friends around the world. I wouldn't be the same if I couldn't speak that lingua franca. My only frustration is because i have not mastered it enough yet. But I will keep learning till I achieve that goal.

Well, there is one particular thing that i like about English its the way it sounds. American English to be exact. I do truly love watching sports events and hearing American sports commentators speak. Thats music to my ears. A friend of mine in the US says that its boring. Well, maybe, but just cant help loving listening the way they sound. ))

English is made of bits from many other languages. This makes it very hard to learn, because there are different rules depending on which language the words come from, but it makes it fascinating and endlessly subtle...there are many ways to say the same thing; so beautiful writing and strange humour.
