what does "advanced university degree" mean? I often see this phrase in recruitment advisement.

Well, one way to look at it is, it typically refers to graduate coursework which follows the bachelor's degree. Graduate coursework is advanced study and includes the master's and doctorate degrees. The associates and bachelors are considered undergraduate coursework.
