always say the exam or the subject before 及格 no nouns can be used after 及格 你能及格吗？英语及格没有？

Sometimes when you use 及格, it always gives others a hint that you might have failed and you got a score just as or a little bit higher than the passing score.

1)通过 and 及格 are a little different. For those exams which have some lines to choose people, normally, we use 通过. for example, a company chooses some people by an example, and it makes a line: 300 points. so if u get 400 points and someone else gets 500 points, there is no difference between u and him even he is better than u. because u and he are chosen by the company. for this case, we use 通过。 For those exams which classify the people, for example, the exams for student in a school, the resault between 90---100 means A, 80---89 means B etc and more than 60 means "及格", so if your resault falls between 60---69, you can say "我及格了". ATTENTION, if you get more than 70, you cant say 及格 for ur resault. because 及格 is just for those resaults which are close to 60 but more than 60, for example 61 62 63 etc... so for an exam, if the important thing is just "get a resault more than xx" we use 通过, however, if the important thing is "the high, the better, AND if ur resault is lower than xx, it means u fail,AND ur resault is higher than xx but is close to xx", we use 及格
