coin a phrase
what does the phrase "coin a phrase" mean in the passage :
(does it mean make up a new nickname for a man?)
Bonnie: Major lack of male real estate. Look at the shower curtain on Kelly
Beach. She looks a hot. Can I still say "tranny mess "?
Elena: No, that's over.
Bonnie: Ahh, find a man, coin a phrase . It's a busy yearwell ,here is the problem! two of my American friends told me the explanation should be Explanation:
"Coin" here means to " come up with " OR " Think up of a ...phrase to say"( to a guy/girl to make him like you)
Coin a phrase = make up a phrase ( think of something to say something to sb. )
but an american teacher say :
Elena told Bonnie she can't use that one anymore (since it's "over" --supposedly not used anymore), so Bonnie would need to coin a new phrase; "find a man, coin a phrase" are like a To Do List for her this year.
what am i supposed to hear ?:
as far as i am concerned , i think what bonnie wanna say is trying to let elena find a man ,say something to the man ,so maybe elena will get a date ,considering the tradegy that elena lost her parents
