Au dessous de / sous
Can someone explain to me the difference between 'au dessous de' and 'sous'?
Also can you give me examples how to use them correctly ?
Merci
"Au dessous de" is used for below whereas "sous" is used for under.
Par exemple: Au dessous de mon appartement,il y a un magasin.
Il y a un chat sous la table.

For Canadians, there is virtually no difference, except that "sous" may appear a bit more posh. Ps we Canadians say "en-dessous", not "au-dessous".
