is there a term " heart broken" in arabic ?? In English we say this when someone is extremely sad from some news or event for example "we were heartbroken when we heard the tragic news of his fathers death" " he was heart broken when the lady refused his marriage proposal" (In fusHA and AAmiyya)

Heartbroken in fusha means قلب مجروح or قلب حزين. In Egyptian dialect it means قلب متقَطَع "we were heartbroken when we heard the tragic news of his fathers death" fusha (free translation not literal)= لقد كنا فى غايه الحزن عندما علمنا/ سمعنا بالاخبار المأساويه عن وفاة والده The sentence in Egyptian dialect= كان قلبنا متقطع لما سمعنا ان والده مات or كنا زعلانين لما سمعنا ان والده مات زعلان\ حزين = sad " he was heart broken when the lady refused his marriage proposal" fusha (free translation)= لقد جُرِحَ قلبه عندما رفضت السيده طلب زواجه. In Egyptian dialect = كان زعلان لما رفضته/ كان زعلان لما رفضت تتجوزه.
