This may have regional differences (US/UK/others) but to me:
A minivan is a van shape, i.e. has a high roof, and at least 2 rows of seats.
A station wagon is lower, has usually 2 rows of seats, and has a boot/trunk space behind the seats, that is in the same compartment as the seats.
A SUV is similar to a station wagon, but is higher like a minivan and more 'rugged'. A 'proper' SUV will be 4 wheel drive, but some are not, and just use the same style. If that doesn't help, I can perhaps find some actual pictures.
