What on earth does "kiss my ass" mean? I'm not asking for its literal meaning, maybe gay men say that to each other a lot in bed and mean the literal thing....:D --------------- I actually heard a lady sing "Kiss my ass, baby" in a really rough sounding song and was a bit appalled.......

The others have answered. I'll just add my thought... Kiss my ass... means kiss my donkey (to me, as I'm British, and the word 'ass' means donkey). Kiss my arse... means kiss my bottom... and means what the others have said! A rude way of saying 'no way, chum/ no!/ go way, you must be joking etc. Of course I know that the Americans pronounce it 'ass' so have to spell it 'ass.' But as a child I was always confused.. I thought Americans kissed donkeys.

That ain't no 'lady', by the sound of things! As with all vulgar phrases and expletives, there is no real meaning behind the words. What matters is the 'force' of the words, which showing anger, surprise, disgust, or any other emotion. This phrase is usually used to mean 'I don't care'. It's a power thing. Someone might use this as a response to show that they are strong and resilient, and not worried or upset by others. Somebody insults you, or tells you to do something you're not willing to do, for example, and you respond by (figuratively!) not only showing them your behind, but telling them to kiss it.

See what the Free Dictionary says: Kiss my arse!  (British & Australian taboo!) also Kiss my ass!(American & Australian Taboo) something that you say in order to tell someone that you will not do what they want you to. Example: He asked for money, and I told him he could kiss my arse. Not a polite thing to say.
