is there a correct way to respond to "Ne var? ne yok?" ?
I have a friend who says this to me often. I never know how to respond. This last time, I asked him in reply: "senin için ne var? ne yok?" and he replied "iyiyim".
I was a bit confused :P

That expression is quite informal. There might be a variety of answers which are like iyidir, iyilik, iyilik sağlık, and generally follows as "sende ne var ne yok?"

What is up with you? Sende ne var, ne yok? Sana ne oluyor? Senin neyin var?
How is it going? Nasıl gidiyor? Ne var, ne yok? Ne alemdesin?
How are you doing? Nasılsın? Ne haber? Durumun nasıl? Ne durumdasın
