Sejin
I want to know how to speak with an Australian accent Hello guys I'm Sejin from South Korea. I am going to Australia next month But I've heard that Australian English differs from other varieties of English in vocabulary, accent, pronunciation, etc. So i think i should learn how to speak Australian English as much as i can before i go there! Could you help me get the Australian accent and teach me Australian English?? (Please correct if I make any mistakes like a grammar mistakes. Thanks!)

There are a few Australians who teach and tutor here on italki, so it may be worth your time to look through the teaching profiles. Yes, this means paying for lessons but you get guaranteed guidance. Jmat and I have also posted a couple of recordings on this discussion, if you want to hear the same text in Australian accents: http://www.italki.com/discussion/107179 If you're interested in "shadowing" an Australian speaker, then vlogger Nat Tran may be worth following: https://www.youtube.com/user/communitychannel The good news is, Australian English is a pretty normal variety of English, and we don't tend to punish visitors with our slang (well... not too much).

I think you'll pick the accent up naturally while you're down under :)

How well can you understand the recordings Peachey and I made here (pages 3, 7 and 10)?: http://www.italki.com/discussion/107179
