What's the meaning of " that's a pity " ???

It means "it's unfortunate" or "it's too bad", usually followed by "that"... "It's a pity (that) you can't come for dinner. I'm making your favorite meal." As a verb it means "to feel sorry for", as in, "I pity the poor man. He has no home."

That's a pity ( or that's a shame ) that he lost his job with a family to support.
That's a bit that she died so young.
That's a pity that it will rain on her wedding day.
