Maybe you mean "miss out" and "mess up"
To miss out means that you would have liked to be part of something and you missed it. For example if your friends went for a nice trip and you missed it, you missed out on all the fun. But next time you can join them on another trip : )
To mess up is slang for 'to make a mistake'.
For example. I made a mistake, I really should have said sorry to her at the beginning. I really messed up.
It is also used for when you ruin something.
For example. I really messed up my relationship with her by not saying sorry. I should call her now and apologize.

miss out = messing a chance or a possibility. miss up = make a mistake (I messed up the entire project), to be troubled (The divorce is really messing him up), a Slang to beat up (he got messed up in a fight).
