How can I use the word "dispense"? I look at the examples but still dont' get the meaning. 1.The end of the Cold War, however, set in motion a new drive to create institutions dispensing international justice. 2.Depending on the amount of training they have, students can dispense preliminary legal advice to clients but must document what advice they gave, Reed says. 3. Unlike Taylor, I'm confident the press will keep me adequately and fairly informed as the courts dispense justice fairly in this matter. 4. In fact, he envisioned a prison system that would dispense with them altogether. 5. He's also discussed pigeon welfare with the men who deal in smuggled birds, and dispensed much advice. Can you give some easier examples? Thanks in advance!

In all your examples except #4, you can replace "dispense" with "provide" or "give". In #4, it means "get rid of" or "not use anymore".
