what's the difference between "romantic" and ""amorous" after looking up in 4 major online dictionaries, it seems like "amorous" perticularly has "desire for a sexual relationship" in its meaning ,while "romantic" has "desire for a loving relationship including a sexual one." in its meaning.Do I undestand collectly? From Cambrige dictionary, amorous :of or expressing sexual desire: (I found amorous to have just one meaning) romantic :relating to love or a close loving relationship: (I found romantic to have other meaning.But I chose this meaning for compalison) These are example sentences. ・Mary rejected Tony's amorous advances. ・Mary rejected Tony's romantic advances. ・I'm not interested in a amorous relationship ・I'm not interested in a romantic relationship what's the diffeience in their meaning,connotation or which is often used or more formal,in these cases?

Amorous is a more formal word. In common usage both would indicate some degree of sexual attraction, but amorous is used less frequently.

Agree with Tim - amorous is a pretty formal word that is rarely used in writing, but almost never in speech. Colloquially, if you were talking about not being interested in a relationship that was mainly sexual without romance, you would say "I'm not interested in a casual relationship"
