What does "a list apart" mean?
It's the name of a website (http://alistapart.com) which about teaching how to style websites with CSS (a script language to specify the layout of a web page). I'm curious that is 'A list apart' here more of a technical saying or it does mean something without the technical context? What does list mean here?

The name probably stems from the fact that they wanted to create a new mailing list (it originally hasn't been a web site) setting itself apart from other already existing mailing lists regarding the same topic by providing higher quality content. Thus, a list apart.

To me 'a list apart' means a separate list. But I am not a programmer!
