"how long have you done exercise?" "how long did you do exercising?" Both of these aren't quire right. Also, do you mean in life in general? Or perhaps just today? This can give you a different answer. Let's look at a few possibilities: "How long have you been exercising?" You want to know the duration the person has undertaken this activity in general. It also means the person is still undertaking the activity currently. For example, your new flatmate is in great shape, and you want to know how long they have been going to the gym to achieve their level of fitness. "How long did you exercise?" You want to know the duration of one specific event of this activity. This can be applied to someone who has just finished the activity. For example, your flatmate comes home from the gym later than normal, and you are curious how long they exercised for. Hope this helps! Regina :)

Hi Juan Good question! I think people often use "how long" with "have done" e.g How long have you lived here? How long have you known each other? How long have you exercised? The reason is that I think HOW LONG means a lasting period of time. If you want to know about the fAct about the past then you can say: Did you exercise yesterday? Did you finish your homework? I hope that I made myself clear. Btw, I'm MEREDITH. It's very nice to know u here. ;)

Hello, can i say "how long have you done exercise?" and "how long did you do exercising?" ? So we could say, "How long have you been exercising?" or "How long did you exercise?" So for the first, "How long have you been exercising?" This is talking about how long they have been exercising... They have been exercising since they were a child or since they were a teenager. The second, "How long did you exercise?" This is talking about you run into your friend who just got done at the gym, and you want to know how long they were there exercising, for example "I ran for 1 hour." Hope that helps.

I would say " How long have you been doing exercise ". And, I think the second sentence is wrong because "exercise" is a noun, and you used it as a verb.
