Hi John, "Kick your ass" and "kick ass" mean different things. If you say, "I'm going to kick your ass" it means you are angry with someone. It does not literally mean you will kick them in the bottom (ass) but it could mean that you are so angry that you will hurt the person. "To kick ass" means to do really well at something. well, this is what people say to taunt you before a fight. It means something like: if we fight, you'll lose and you'll be humiliated example: "I'm going to kick your ass so hard you won't even sit down for 2 days"
