"I hope you enjoy the play" is the correct answer. the reason why "wish" is not is mainly because of the differences between the word "hope" and "wish" Hope is a word we use when we have some degree of control over the outcome or if the outcome we desire has a realistic chance of happening. Wish is a word we use when either we have no control over the outcome or there is very, very little chance of it happening. (which is why you wish for things like "I wish i could be taller" or "I wish i could go back in time" Wish is also used usually to talk about things that have happened in the past for example "I wish i studied for that exam" because its in the past and you cannot change the outcome, whereas i cant say "I hope I had studied for that exam" because that means you believe you can change the outcome but you cant because its too late or has happened. We use hope because theres a 50/50 chance you will enjoy the play haha ^-^ hopefully.... Hope this helps! =D

"I hope you enjoy the play" is correct. The basic division is that we use 'hope' for things (usually in the future) that are more likely and 'wish' for things (often in the past) that are less likely. "Wish" is often used with past tenses to describe regrets. "I wish I hadn't gone to that movie." Sometimes they both are appropriate as in: "I hope he gets here soon" and "I wish he'd get here soon", which mean almost the same thing, but notice the difference in tenses. I hope this helps.

"I hope you enjoy the play" sounds more natural. They both mean the same thing, but the first one is more natural. In English (American English at least), we use "I hope" a lot when we want something to go a certain way but there is a possibility that that 'something' my not happen. For example, if you want to hang out with friends this weekend, but you are uncertain on whether or not you will be able to hang out with them, you may say to someone "I hope I can hang out with my friends this weekend." If you say "I wish you enjoy the play", you would be understood, but it sounds unnatural. Does that make sense?
