The difference between cursing and swearing may be different in different English speaking areas. I think that American English uses them synonymously, but I don't. Perhaps that is a British English thing? Using 'bad words' is swearing, (e.g. using words that refer to reproductive organs). To me, cursing is when you say that you hope something bad happens to someone, e.g. "I hope you rot in hell". So, we say 'cursing and swearing' to mean that you are doing both. Scolding is almost always used in a domestic situation. It is commonly used to describe what parents do to children, and occasionally what they do to their partner. It is loud, and also would last for more than a sentence or two. It would be very unusual (at least in Western culture) in any situation other than a domestic one. The 'giving' phrase is almost always used in first person. I will give him/her a piece of my mind. Or occasionally give you. I think it would be unusual to use it in any other situation.

- Swear and curse are quite synonymous. Both imply using profane language. - Reprimand means you're reproaching someone, typically with having authority over that person (like teacher vs. pupil, boss vs. employee) - Scold means you're reproaching someone, typically loudly - "Give a piece of my mind" means that I'm going to speak to someone in an angry way. If you're thinking about whether you can use all of these interchangeably, the answer is no. They have different situations where each should be used. As a high-level distinction, you can also think that swearing and cursing may sometimes be acts not targeted at anyone, and without merit. For example, I may curse (myself or the man in the sky) for accidentally hitting my finger with a hammer. With the rest of them, you have someone you are trying to lecture and you typically have an opinion of how things should be taken care of.
