What is the difference between das Seil, die Schnur, der Kordel ? they all mean "rope", right ? thx

Not really "ein Seil" is a rope, but "eine Schnur" is much thinner, rather a string in English. "eine Kordel" is a twisted decorative type of Schnur, best translated into english as "cord"
