Thanks for your question. I admire your curiosity! “Take it on the chin” refers to being hit or punched” (as in boxing). To “take it on the chin with a grin” means the person would accept any pain or consequences and not let that discourage him or her from doing what they wanted to do. This is figurative speech, not literal of course. (no one is getting punched!)
